Heard about nForce?
After the Platform Conference, as usual, various rumors began to appear. Here’s what is now circulating on the net about NVIDIA nForce chipsets:
- nForce 220 (a version of the chipset with a 64-bit memory bus) will not ship exactly as it was presented. At least the built-in 4-channel audio support will reportedly be dropped from it. There will be other simplifications of the nForce 220, but which ones are not yet known.
- nForce 420 is currently undergoing a major overhaul. As you know, the presented samples of this chipset were produced in limited quantities, but the final version of the chipset will be different. Nothing specific about the additions or withdrawals from the chipset is known, however, the main goal of the work being done is to make the chipset as cheap as possible.
It all sounds at least incomprehensible. Isn’t it too drastic changes for the chipset, which is promised in massive quantities in a month or less?? However, if you remember how many new technologies have been introduced into it, it is not surprising that NVIDIA strives to bring the product to its best possible form.
