Fujitsu licenses 32-bit kernels

Fujitsu keeps up with its compatriots and, in turn, has found a way to take possession of embedded cores.. The company licensed synthesized 32-bit RISC kernels from ARM. Fujitsu’s goal is to combine them in a single chip with peripheral controllers and other computing system harness, so that later such integrated solutions (systems-in-a-chip, SoC) can be used in their future PDA, phones, digital cameras, etc.d.

The synthesizable core ARM926EJ-S was licensed, which is known to be compatible with many operating systems and shells. ARM also licensed the more advanced ARM946E-S core. Licensing terms were not disclosed.

Fujitsu plans to offer off-the-shelf products based on English ARM cores in Q2 and Q3 2021 (for ARM926EJ-S and ARM946E-S, respectively). As you can see, the 32- and 64-bit SoC market promises to be interesting next year.
