Japanese QUEST announced the release of the Q-BOX 25FW device for converting a 2.5-inch hard drive into an external drive with an IEEE1394 interface (FireWire). The novelty will go on sale at the end of the month at an approximate price of 14,000 yen ($ 115).
Inside the Q-BOX 25FW case, there is nothing more than a regular 2.5-inch Ultra ATA / 66 hard drive 12.5 mm thick. The device itself is equipped with an IEEE1394 controller based on the OXFW911 chip from the English Oxford Semiconductor. The hard drive is powered via the IEEE1394 bus.
