Here is an updated picture of SiS’s plans for the near future:
- To reduce manufacturing costs, SiS intends to combine North and South bridges in several new chipsets.
- SiS has no intention of using AMD’s HyperTransport bus in its new chipsets; instead, the company announced its own North-South Bridge bus technology, dubbed PepLink (formerly known as TransZIP). AMD HyperTransport technology will not be used by SiS soon – only when developing chipsets for the Hammer processor family.
- SiS emphasizes that its new SiS315 graphics core will be available as standalone chips and integrated variants. The company positions SiS315 as a competitor to the GeForce2 MX 200 in the budget segment, but with performance comparable to the GeForce2 MX 400. SiS315 is equipped with a second generation 256-bit 3D T&L engine with support for Hyper FSAA and DDR / SDR memory. The clock speed will be 166 MHz, support for 3D VR glasses will also be integrated into the chip. paired with SiS301, the new chip will be able to support Dual View mode on an LCD monitor, CRT monitor or TV.
