AMD: Updated Processor Roadmap
In addition to yesterday’s announcements by AMD officials at the Wit Soundview conference, we also present an updated roadmap for processor releases over the weekend, posted on the company’s website, which has been unrecognizably redesigned this weekend.
So, before the end of the year we will see the desktop version of Athlon with the Palomino core (the official name of the product is not yet known) and [SMP?] the version of Duron with the Morgan core for the budget server sector (the name of the product is also still unknown).
In the first quarter of 2021, towards the end of January – the beginning of February, the Thoroughbred core made with 0.13 micron rates will be announced, and, accordingly, processors on it: for the server / performance workstation sector, as well as the SMP version of Thoroughbred. There will also be processors with this core for the desktop and laptop market.
Towards the end of the first quarter of 2021, the announcement of a new 0.13 micron Appaloosa kernel is expected, solutions on which (so far unnamed) will replace the current Duron in all branches of mass systems: server, desktop and mobile.
In the second half of the year, Hammer processors are expected to be announced, made according to the 0.13-micron process technology with SOI, as well as the next core of the Athlon family – Barton, in versions with SMP [and without?], also made according to the 0.13 micron process technology with SOI. This is the previous version of AMD’s processor roadmap:
