Touches for the Northwood portrait

French colleagues from Clubic found an interesting page on the ASUS website in the FAQ section with information about the new P4 processors, in particular, with the Northwood core.

According to this information, on August 27, 2 GHz Pentium 4 models will be presented, made according to the 0.18 micron process technology, samples of which were sent to motherboard manufacturers this month, but the 0.13 micron 2 GHz P4 models will appear on sale approximately in November / December 2021.

Unlike the current Socket 423 and Socket 478 Pentium 4, the 0.13 micron Northwood processors will have not 256, but 512 KB of L2 cache and operating frequencies from 2 GHz to 2.4 GHz and higher. And one more curious detail: unlike Socket 423 P4 processors, the new Northwood processors, due to the smaller chip layout, as it is written in the document, “have great potential for overclocking.”.
