Samsung’s New CD / DVD Optical Pick-Up
Samsung Electronics announced the completion of the development of a new optical CD / DVD transport. According to Samsung representatives, the new design takes into account the disadvantages inherent in mechanisms of this class. The number of components in the new pick-up has been reduced by more than 15%, and the cost price – by 30%.
Samsung plans to start mass production of new items in November at a factory in Suwon, Korea, and at the very beginning of 2021 new DVD players based on it will be presented.
So far, nothing is known about whether Samsung’s pick-up will be sold to third-party companies. Also, there are no technical characteristics of the new item.
