New power controller for high speed memory
Fairchild, one of the veterans of the semiconductor industry, recently unveiled its power controller that can facilitate bus termination in high-speed memory interfaces.
New FAN5236 Chip – Dual Asynchronous Switching Power Supply Controller that provides VDDQ and VTT matching for DDR-I, DDR-II and HSTL memory systems. The chip is fully compliant with JEDEC standards, and was developed with the support of engineers from AMD and Intel. Chip can be programmed for output voltages from 900 mV to 5.5 V at currents up to 6 A per channel, with independent current limiting and shutdown signal monitoring.
The chip is already available in a 28-pin QSOP or TSSOP package at a price of $ 1.99 in quantities starting from a thousand pieces.
