iWALK: a secret novelty from Apple

As a matter of fact, it is still impossible to call iWalk a “novelty” – there was no official announcement of the model, when it will take place – it is not known for sure, perhaps next month, and the start of sales is expected not earlier than mid-December.

What is this mystical iWALK? To some extent, iWALK is a kind of PDA with a color TFT touch screen (512 x 256) and the ability to display up to 65K colors (handwriting input, as it is emphasized, is of higher quality than that of its predecessor, the Newton pocket PC, and, it seems, is much better than current Palm OS PDAs), 128 MB of memory (up to 256 MB in the high-end model!), Firewire IEEE1394 port and 56k modem, built-in AirPort wireless module. Naturally, the PDA can be used as a regular MP3 player, albeit with unusual functionality: thanks to the AirPort, iWALK can play not only files stored on its drive, but also receive them from any nearby Mac PC, also equipped with a card. AirPort and iTunes 2. A lightweight version of Mac OS X, redesigned for such a case, will be used as the operating system. Built-in lithium-ion battery will allow iWALK to be used for up to 20 hours in active mode and up to 9 days in standby.

This hitherto unannounced novelty will delight fans of Apple products in the coming months. What can we say about the price, if even the size of the novelty is not really known yet (in the photo, a fragment of a pack of cigarettes is specially left as a scale element). Source: SpyMac
