The British RiTDATA, a company within the Taiwanese Ritek, today announced the release of 1.1 GB and 1.6 GB of CompactStor hard drives of the Compact Flash Type II (ATA / PCMCIA) form factor, in fact, similar to the miniature Microdrive hard drives manufactured by IBM.

Recording density in new drives is 22.5 Gbps per square inch, access time – 11 ms, spindle speed – up to 3600 rpm. Maximum data exchange rate – up to 5.5 Mb / s, supply voltage – 3.3 V, current consumption – up to 250 mA during operation and less than 18 mA in standby mode. Weight – only 16 grams!

There is no pricing information yet. The company plans to bring the disk capacity to 6 GB in the near future.
