Creative Audigy announced!
So this is what Creative Technology’s threats unveiled last week meant! Here’s What Behind The Promise To Focus On Audio Chips! The long-awaited, but, nevertheless, not expected earlier in September, the new generation Audigy chip was announced today! However, the early announcement of Audigy could well have been the result of the disappointing results of the last financial quarter and the desire of Creative to quickly compensate for the losses.
The new Audigy audio processor with EAX ADVANCED HD and Multi-Environment technologies, according to the company representatives, allows simultaneous rendering of up to 4 audio streams and has processing power four times higher than the previous Creative chip – the well-proven EMU10K1 processor installed in each card Sound Blaster Live!/ Live! five.one.
At the heart of the Audigy processor is a 32-bit core with support for Creative EAX ADVANCED HD software, designed to improve sound quality both in games and when playing music.
For game sound developers, the EAX ADVANCED HD library provides the ability to support APIs such as Microsoft Direct Sound, OpenAL, Dolby Digital 5 Mixing API.1 and EAGLE 3.0.
To work with digital audio, EAX ADVANCED HD contains interactive elements to improve the quality of digital audio playback, whether it be CD Audio, MP3, or other digital formats: Audio Clean-Up – removes unwanted hissing and creaking sounds when playing MP3 files; Time Scaling acceleration or deceleration of the playback speed without changing the tone of the signal and its quality; EAX ADVANCED HD Audio Effects – wide range of presets and audio effects; DREAM – Creates an enhanced surround sound from any stereo signal source by redistributing the spread of hearing-specific frequencies.
Well, well, we waited for the announcement of the long-promised chip. Now it’s up to the start of mass production of audio cards and the results of real testing, which will allow us to judge how much the new technology is superior to previous developments.
