Texas Instruments once again showed how to make DSP processors. The company began to produce three new C64x series processors – C6416, C6415 and C6414. The processors are made according to the modern 0.13 micron copper process technology.
The older C6416 (with additional coprocessors) operates at 600 MHz and (according to the company) consumes only 1 W. And this processor is capable of handling 350 voice channels at 12.2 kHz sampling rate or 35 channels at 384 kbps. The C6415 does not have these coprocessors, and the C6416 only has a core core and standard interfaces.
Naturally, these DSPs target many markets – from 3G telephony to broadband communications.
