Motorola Announces Industry’s First EUV Photomasks Designed for Chips Complying with 0.10um Process Technology. Motorola works are carried out as part of the Extreme Ultraviolet LLC consortium project, which includes Motorola, Intel, AMD, and other companies.
According to Motorola representatives, by the beginning of 2021 the company will have developed the final version of the technology for working with such precision photomasks, which at first will be used in conjunction with the experimental EUV alpha installation, which we wrote about the launch on February 27.
Another unusual feature of Motorola’s announcement today is that, according to the company’s developers, the new photomasks are combined not only with EUV experimental instruments, but also with equipment currently used in the industry, and have been tested on standard 6-inch substrates 0.25-inch thick. The use of new photomasks in combination with the current DUV equipment will reduce the cost of the transition to new standards of the technical process and make it consistent.
