Excessive network traffic may cause network disconnections or denial-of-service – Lenovo Support AU
Massive 3G – by 2021
Recently, a joint press conference was held by the executive director of Finnish Nokia and the executive director of Japan’s largest mobile operator NTT DoCoMo.
Nokia currently plans to launch 3G phones in Europe next year with mass production starting in 2021. In addition, they talked about the plan to create unified open standards of services for 3G products, concerning, first of all, Internet access, work with messages and applications.
DoCoMo has already launched a 3G network with Matsushita Communication and NEC, so 3G is already in operation in Japan. Nokia is technologically ready to supply its products, but the final decision will be made after negotiations with NTT DoCoMo.
But in Europe (where the deadlines have already been missed), things are somewhat worse. True, the executive director of VodaFone assures that the company will fulfill its obligations to launch a 3G network in the second half of the next calendar year. But (!) at the same time warns that the possible lack of the required number of phones may lead to the fact that the widespread use of 3G networks will begin only in mid-2021.
Nokia is currently considered the only manufacturer outside of Japan that will be able to launch 3G phones on the market independently, without entering into an alliance with other manufacturers. While Nokia has yet to provide a Java phone for DoCoMo, development is in full swing. For its part, DoCoMo promises to bring Nokia phones to the Japanese market next year. It is not clear only whether these will be 3G models or models of the current generation.
The press conference follows on from Comdex’s plan to create a consortium to promote the 3G standard that would allow mobile products and service delivery systems to be interoperable regardless of region and system.
