Another bug VIA KT133A
It looks like the misadventures with the KT133A chipset are not over yet. After solving the known problem with the south bridge of the chipset – VIA VT82C686B, very little time passed, and now – a new message – this time, about problems with the north bridge of the chipset. Pay attention to the pictures:
North bridges of the VT8363A chipset with codes 1EA0 (left) or 1EA4 in conjunction with Athlon processors of stepping C can lead to an unexpected “restart” of the system. Moreover, as has already been clearly established, the problem does not arise through the “fault” of the motherboard, but precisely because of the chipset.
The good news is that not all north bridges are affected by this problem: north bridge code 2ЕA1 (right) works without problems.
The German office of MSI has already responded to the problem by starting the exchange of K7T Turbo boards, which were supplied with the problematic north bridge KT133A.
By the time of our publication, some additions have already appeared: from the representative office of MSI Germany, they clarified the way of identifying the problem: if there is a “hot” restart in DOS mode or restart from Windows and the screen remains dark, we can confidently talk about the “bug” of the north bridge of the chipset.
By the way, from there, a method followed on how to get rid of difficulties on your own: in 20% – 30% percent of cases, the problem is eliminated by raising the I / O voltage from 3.3 V to 3.45 V through the BIOS.
