Pentium 4 “Celeron” 1.80 GHz and others: Intel roadmap update

Some updates to the roadmap of desktop processors: so Pentium 4 will be named “Celeron” in the third quarter of next year. The first model is expected to be released at 1.80 GHz, MPGA 478, 400 MHz FSB, and 0.18 μm process technology. The following models with higher clock speeds are expected to be released by Q4 2021.

The top model for desktop PCs, in the first quarter of 2021, as expected, will move to the Northwood core, acquire a clock frequency of 2.20 GHz, and, most importantly, it will finally go to 0.13 micron process technology, and will continue to be produced in this capacity.

It became known that OEMs have already received confirmation from Intel that the release of the new DDR i845 Brookdale chipset will take place at the beginning of the year, and there seems to be no delays.

Some changes in the names of other new products: Rambus Tulloch chipset (i855) will now be called Tehama-E (i.e. based on the i850). Another name – Brookdale-E, suggests that we will see something interesting next year, with support for faster than the standard Brookdale, DDR memory. 🙂

And one more thing: the planned release of the 2.53 GHz version of the Pentium 4 in the third quarter clearly means the use of FSB 533 MHz. The Brookdale-E, Tehama-E and Brookdale-GL chipsets, slated for release at the same time, will definitely support the same bus, only Tehama-E, respectively, will work with Rambus memory, and Brookdale-E and Brookdale-GL – with SDRAM / DDR.
