Other Thoughts: It has real time protection and a very good virus detection Better than ClamWin (for it has a real time protection) and the crap Comodo AV. Good frequent updates and database also! Best of all, its FREE! Keep up the good work guys.

Linux on PDA: Report from LinuxWorld Expo 2021

The LinuxWorld Conference Expo 2021 in New York has come to an end. Several Linux PDA Models Shown at the Show. Nice to see that some of the newer models, originally designed to run for Windows CE, now support Linux too.

Hewlett Packard has unveiled an experimental pocket PC with its own Java machine, called Chai-LX, designed in opposition to Sun Microsystems (HP suggests “have some tea,” while Java is usually associated with coffee). The new LX models (95/100 / 200LX) will be based on the Intel StrongArm processor and equipped with 32 MB of memory. Linux kernel and Chai-LX itself will be embedded in ROM. The model will not differ in size from Palm m500, however, it will be somewhat thicker, and the slot for CompactFlash cards will be located somewhat differently.

The next device is the US variant of the Zaurus SL-5000CD plus Linux from Sharp. Outwardly, it looks exactly like the MI-E21, but the filling is completely different. The Japanese version of the Zaurus uses the Hitachi SH processor, the American version uses the Intel StrongArm. A wide range of accessories are also available via the CompactFlash connector.

Compaq also distinguished itself with its iPaq Pocket PC. Initially, having designed their PDA for WindowsCE, the company apparently decided to try to install Linux as well, because there should be enough resources. IPAQ showcased in collaboration with RedHat Linux.Source: PC Watch
