So now since couple Preview Builds back, when Windows 10 started no more support Windows 7, 8, drivers, I sitting without video drivers.

Rambus Yellowstone Technology Will Be Shown In September

The Rambus Developer Forum 2021, which will take place this year on September 20-21, promises to be an interesting event: Rambus intends to present its next generation high-performance data exchange technology “Yellowstone” for the first time. The plans of the forum, held by Rambus together with its partners Elpida, Intel, Samsung and Toshiba – details about the achievement of the RDRAM memory chip with a bandwidth of 6.4 GB / s; the introduction of an updated roadmap of RIMM modules with performance up to 9.6 Gb / s, as well as the transition to the logical architecture of the microcircuit with four independent banks (4i – as was the case with Concurrent RDRAM), the transition to a four-layer technology for manufacturing motherboards – all to reduce the final cost.

What is this new Yellowstone signaling logic is not yet fully understood. It is possible that it will be based on the idea of ​​QRSL, which encodes logical states at four levels. This has been in the company’s plans for a long time. However, there is an obvious discrepancy: on the one hand, we are talking about a new signaling protocol. But here’s 6.4 Gb / s per channel – it turns out a 32-bit bus, and not 64-bit, as was recently announced by the company. Currently using RSL logic levels for a 16-bit bus and a resulting 800 MHz bandwidth is 1.6 Gb / s. When switching to QRSL, there is a twofold increase in comparison with the current RSL, i.e.e., without changing anything, except for switching to QRSL, it turns out immediately 3.2 Gb / s. Increasing the data bus width to 32 bits results in 6.4 Gb / s. as in the announcement, and when increasing to 64 bits, it turns out 12.8 Gb / s. The sounded figure of 9.6 Gb / s is probably a margin of bandwidth for the RIMM module.

But be that as it may, these are very bold and far-reaching plans: to raise the bandwidth to 6.4 Gb / s, and at the same time to reduce the cost of production, reducing the board topology to four layers and completely changing the logical organization of the memory chip. Well, we are waiting for September…
