Micron has confirmed the use of PMC technology

Preliminary details of the deal between Axon Technologies and Micron Technology have been confirmed, according to which Micron will receive non-exclusive commercial rights to use Programmable Metallization Cell (PMC) technology.

To recap: Axon’s patented PMC technology is based on the electrochemical effect in solid electrolytes. Micron expects that the use of a special silver-based chalcogenide mixture as a coating for conventional CMOS memory cells will allow it to launch the most cost-effective chips and become a leader among the manufacturers of MRAM and other non-volatile CMOS devices. The timing of the introduction of the new technology is still called rather vague – “in the near future”. Source: EB News
