New PowerMac G4 at 1 GHz G4
A significant event for the world of fans of the Mac platform took place today . New PowerMac G4 have been announced.
Here are the models presented by Jobs: the most powerful PowerMac on two G4 processors (MPC7455) with a frequency of 1 GHz, as well as single-processor 933 and 800 MHz models.
But let’s get down to business: at 1 GHz and 933 MHz models there is a SuperDrive – DVD-R / CD-RW drive, and 800 MHz is equipped with a regular CD-RW.
Apple’s preferences in graphics are also interesting: while the 800 MHz model comes with ATI RADEON 7500, the other two models are equipped with… yes, namely GeForce4MX or NV17 with 64 MB of memory, a week before its official release!
In addition, 933 and 1000 MHz models have 2 MB L3 cache, which does not interfere either. The new models have the usual four USB ports for modern Macs, two FireWire ports, an AirPort, not quite the usual Gigabit Ethernet (!!), four 64-bit PCI slots and other modern features.
The hard data storage was 40, 60 and 80 GB 7200 rpm hard drives, respectively.
Rates? Here they are: $ 2999 for the 2x 1 GHz model, $ 2299 for the 933 MHz and $ 1599 for the 800 MHz PowerMac model.
Well, now everything is back in place: iMac for consumers, and PowerMac for demanding professionals.
