New antenna from Matsushita

Matsushita Electronic Components recently announced a new antenna for mobile phones – EWPA. The antenna is designed to work in dual-band phones and can be used in both GSM / DCS and PDC / PHS phones.

The antenna can be built into the phone and works in a wide frequency range. It is possible to change its internal resistance and therefore the antenna has approximately the same sensitivity at different frequencies.

According to Matsushita, GSM phones measuring approximately 37 x 21 x 7.5 mm have a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 3.5 or less, and an antenna efficiency of -3 dB or more.

The price is not specified, as antennas will be made to order for specific phones. Matsushita hopes to be able to scale up the production of EWPA antennas and produce up to 1 million. pieces per month.
