Radeon 7500LE: Another Lightweight Version?

There is information that ATi intends to release to the market a version of video cards Radeon 7500 on a “lightweight” chip – Radeon 7500LE. Unlike the usual 275 MHz Radeon 7500, the new 7500LE will operate at 250 MHz, and instead of DDR SDRAM, it will be equipped with 64 MB of 5 ns SDRAM, operating at 175 MHz. A set of outputs – standard: analog, DVI and S-Video.

Of course, the only advantage of Radeon 7500LE cards over the conventional version is the lower price.

The meaning of the appearance of such a “buffer” between Radeon 7500 and Radeon 7200 cards is not yet quite clear. Is this the result of rejection of Radeon 7500 chips that do not work at the nominal frequency?? In any case, until the official information appeared on the ATi website itself, it is quite possible to expect a batch of OEM Radeon 7500 cards with lower clock speeds, but without the “LE” marking, as it was previously with the same Radeon 8500 / Radeon 8500LE.
