Fujitsu: minus factory…

Fujitsu has announced its decision to cease production at the semiconductor plant in Gresham, Oregon by the end of January 2021, close the plant and liquidate its assets. The closure, like everyone else, was caused by the global crisis in the semiconductor industry, due to which the company consolidates production at the Fujitsu-AMD Semiconductor Limited (FASL) factory (Japan). The closure of the plant will result in the layoff of 670 workers).

The factory itself was Fujitsu’s first overseas manufacturing division and the main factory for RAM products. In 2000, due to the crisis in DRAM sales, the plant was reoriented to production of flash memory, however, due to the ongoing crisis and the reorientation of the company, the final decision was made to close it.Source: EB News
