10 Mbps modem from Mitsubishi… for power supply
For a long time, many companies have been trying to come up with a modem to work on a regular power grid. I do not remember that anyone could imagine a device capable of operating at speeds above 1 Mbps. Recently Mitsubishi and the American Inari announced that they are successfully developing a similar device capable of operating at speeds up to 10 Mbps. The release date of the device is already called – the end of spring this year.
The modem uses frequencies from 1.7 MHz to 30 MHz on a regular power grid and is capable of operating at 10 Mbps. However, in America in the spring, only a 2 Mbit / s modem will be presented so far.
The companies plan to develop and promote modems for the power grid with speeds up to 50 Mbit / s (!).
In Japan, this modem cannot yet be sold due to a government law prohibiting the use of the required frequency range in the power network. It is hoped that this restriction may be eased in the near future.
